Who's Behind the Tampa Veterans Job Fair

The fair is run by RecruitMilitary, a military-to-civilian hiring firm that has been staging these events since the early 1990s and produces them with DAV, the national veterans service organization. The Tampa date is also on the City of Tampa's events calendar, which lists it as free.

The organizer's page showed 41 registered exhibitors at the time of writing and notes that its fairs tend to average more than 50, with the list not final until the doors open. It has not published company names, so we aren't going to guess at them.

With MacDill Air Force Base at the tip of South Tampa, this city has a deep bench of military talent, and every recruiter in Ballroom C signed up to tap it. A fair like this compresses weeks of cold applications into four hours.

⚠️ Read This Before You Head Downtown

  • It is built for the military community. The City of Tampa listing names veterans, transitioning military personnel and military spouses. If you have no service connection, the November 2 Tampa Bay Job & Career Fair at Westshore is the better fit. Different event, different day, open to everyone.
  • Register ahead. The organizer asks attendees to share a personal QR code with each employer, which comes from registering on the event page. Charge your phone before you leave the house.
  • Walk-in policy isn't spelled out. The event page doesn't say whether unregistered attendees are admitted. Registering takes a few minutes and removes the question.

Parking and Getting There

The Convention Center sits at the south end of downtown on Franklin Street, next to the Riverwalk and a short walk from Channelside. Complimentary parking is offered in the Convention Center garage with the coupon code ADAVET, and the organizer lists the Fort Brooke Garage as overflow.

📋 How to Show Up Ready

Bring a resume that translates your service into civilian terms: job titles a hiring manager outside the military will recognize, team sizes, budgets, equipment and systems you ran. Have your DD-214 details, any active clearance level and certification dates handy, since those come up fast in defense and government conversations. Business casual is the safe call. Practice a 30-second pitch, then go table to table and get names so you can follow up within two days.
